Some neighbors have voiced concerns over seeing rodents (specifically rats) in the neighborhood. Pockets of activity can be a nuisance for homeowners whose backyards line the canal, and because of this, everyone is advised NOT to leave bread or food out for ducks or wildlife because rodents are also attracted by it.

More recently there have been other homeowners further from the canal with rodent activity. This is speculated to be generated by the introduction of the chickens and chicken coops which also draw vermin.

Neighbors are encouraged to help root out this problem by adding a bait box to their property that is baited and checked by a professional company.
